The name of Grey-Hat SEO confuses some people. Mostly guy thinks that grey color lies between white and black, so this technique must include tactics of both black hat and white hat. But this is not true. Grey can be considered as a shade of black .This tactic mainly fall between search engine spam and lawful tactics. This technique involves various other tactics like duplicate content, cloaking, paid links etc. Websites using these SEO’s have more chances to be got penalized by various search engines. I would recommend various website owners to devote extra time and efforts to apply proper SEO techniques on their websites.

Here I will explain about Grey-Hat Tactics in detail. This tactic, as mentioned above involves lots of tricks and is closely related with black-hat. First of them is “Paid Links”. Here, people used to purchase link on other websites just to increase back links and to make their own link popular. Purchasing of links for pure advertisement purpose is purely legal. But if we purchase links just to increase our popularity, it would be counted as illegal act and can result in penalizing the site. In simple words, you should purchase links just to get traffic.

“Cloaking” is another tactic that comes under Grey-Hat SEO. This tactic is considered as legal by search engines and users. If you have a logical reason of providing different information to the search engines and the visitors, than you are a bit safe. Another legal example of cloaking is that you are an owner of website having image only and text is used to represent the page defines the text and the image.

“Duplicate content” also comes inside Grey-Hat tactics. As we have seen, various website are using same content as other websites and still they are at the top of search ratings. This is really a drastic problem for search engines and its users. For getting rid of this problem, many search engines have added filters through which they can eliminate duplicate content from a web page. Sometime this duplicate content is not recognized by search engines and if some other competitors report about this thing, that site will surely get penalized by search engines. Duplicate content is considered as legal for both search engines and users if it’s on resource site.

Site having articles primarily will not be penalized by search engines if they post these articles somewhere on internet.
