The Clash: Black Hat versus White Hat

There is a ton of options and ways an internet marketer can go with his or her marketing techniques. Some techniques to maximize the presence of your site in a search engine can be more complex than others and some people may take it in a progressive way. Others, though, are a bit too impatient to achieve results in their page ranking. In a dimension where ranking means a good lot of financial opportunities for your content and/ or ads, there is a clash between the ethical versus unethical techniques. This is a clash between black hat versus white hat.

SEO techniques can be classified into two broad categories: There is the one based on effective design, and content and the next one based which is more into taking advantage and deception. The latter one is famously termed Black hat. There are a lot of arguments between Black hat versus white hat.  With the continuously diversifying realm of the internet, certain acts and techniques will certainly be the victor than the others.

A legal SEO is called a white hat. This method and sets of techniques is based on legal and accepted methods of SEO practices. The main thrust of the methods in white hat is geared towards creating content based on users and not just for search engines. This good content will then be tracked down and accessed by spiders. The idea of white hat is to make content accessible to a large audience.

The black hat on the other hand is more deceptive and only geared towards the benefit of gaining higher ranks in a shorter time.  There are a number of techniques that had been done in previous years. Some of these techniques are using hidden texts that are basically texts that are of the same color as the background. They also use extremely small fonts that can be virtually undetectable. They also saturate the body with keywords known as keyword stuffing. Meta tags are also repeatedly populated with similar keywords. Some use nonsensical sites or low quality pages that are deliberately geared to attract spiders.

There are some notable cases of the black hat technique with BMW and Ricoh in Germany where their sites had been reduced and listings on databases had been removed altogether. These companies made an apology, reformatted their content and as soon as it is clear of deception, were placed back to Google.

In the clash between black hat versus white hat, the internet marketing trend has become more vigilant and perceptive of the results of deceiving the public and the search engines about their intentions. Yes, it is true that earning is possible and is lucrative in the internet, but it is much more important to earn knowing that your content has quality geared to users, without deception.

In the battle between black hat versus white hat, you might think that it is better to get things working fast. However, it might be short lived. With steady but clean and stable methods, you are assured that your path is steady and always geared to reach the top.
